Recent purchases I’m thrilled about

Despite my pledge to shop less this year, I haven’t quite lived up to it, well, sort of. Because, in some ways, I did actually do it, but only because I haven’t been wowed by what’s out there. As in, I haven’t found much inspiration in my usual go-to retailers this year, that’s the simple truth.

While I know what I like and what I’m generally looking for, I don’t always have a specific item in mind when shopping. If something catches my eye, I “run” it against my criteria (high on my list: that it’s made of/with natural fabrics and materials, certain styles, pockets, etc.). However, if I truly love it, I might buy it even if it doesn’t meet said criteria.

I share what I buy every month in my month-at-a-glance posts, but I wanted to share some recent purchases I made, and that, yes, wowed me, in case you’ve also been somewhat let down. As usual, my purchases are intentional — I shop with the idea that these items should last and fit in my closet (and life) for years. I hope you find something you like here.

Recent purchases I’m thrilled about

This shirt dress (that I already have in another color). Initially, I had considered buying this dress, but it was sold out in red at the time, so I almost bought this dress instead (that I still want). However, seeing that only size small was available in this shirt dress (which I’ve been wanting for several months, specifically in this “deep sea teal), I figured this was my chance. Thankfully, it was brought back in stock (though it keeps selling out), so you might be lucky to snag yours if you want it. All I can say is that yes, it deserved to be bought again — it’s that good! 😉

This necklace. Oh my. It took me a while to notice this necklace, but once I did, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I thought it sold out at some point, and when I saw it again, I immediately added it to my cart, though I have to admit that it took me a while to actually purchase it. Not because I didn’t love it, but because I was waiting on other items. Anyway, I love it and I’m so glad I finally purchased it! It’s even better looking in person — it's a solid classic piece I’ll have and wear for years. Of course, after I bought it, I saw this necklace and now I can’t stop thinking about this one, too…

This cuff bracelet. I thought this would be nice, and I wasn’t wrong. Another classic yet modern piece that goes with just about any outfit.

This leather belt (more color options here). This belt is super soft and can be tied a few different ways. It’s a lovely piece to complement an outfit.

These mule shoes. I love the delicate bow and, of course, the snakeskin pattern. They run true to size and are comfy as I’ve worn them a few times already without the need to break them in. They look great with dresses and pants/jeans.

This navy blue dress, of course. I shared all the necessary details about it in this post, but as with any of my purchases, I can honestly say that I love it! It’s another classic piece, if you ask me.

This denim shirt dress. Another timeless shirt dress that I’ll wear for years to come. FYI, it runs small, especially if you have curves or wider hips, so I recommend sizing up. I bought it in blue (not available at this time), but the off white is great to wear from spring through fall in colder climates, and year-round in warmer ones.

This short-sleeved jacket. I think it will look great over a turtleneck with trousers or jeans, or a long-sleeve dress in the fall.

These flats in a no longer available color, but the silver ones are also very pretty. They run true to size and are comfortable.

This linen-blend hat I bought for my husband, which he loves. I thought of including it here because it’s a good one.
