Marble home accents

I’ve mentioned it before somewhere on this blog, but I generally dislike fake things… fake plants, fake shells, fake whatever else is made out there. I much prefer the real deal, and that applies to stones too. Though, I don’t care for real diamonds — I feel like I have to say this, nor real fur — knowing that it used to be a living thing at some point makes my skin crawl. Oh, and hair… that really creeps me out, so I don’t do extensions or lashes either… but hey, you do you, and what works best for you…

OK, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about the hero of this post — marble, aka the stone.

I’ve only fallen more in love with marble after visiting Athens in Greece and seeing it almost everywhere. For thousands and thousands of years that marble “lives”, and only gets more beautiful with time (though, so slippery — be careful when walking on it! #justkeepingitreal).

There’s something about it that makes it irresistible, though I don’t necessarily want my home covered in it — I don’t like the high maintenance that comes with it… But I can’t deny it looks good — elegant, expensive, contemporary.

After days of darkness, this morning the sun finally came out, shining so beautifully through our window, and inspiring me to take these photos. I love playing with shadows in photography. What do you think? Did I do a good job?

P.S. Our rug is linked here — we have it in the 7'10" x 9'10" size. What looks like a rust color in these photos is Fuschia, bordered by yellow, which creates the illusion of rust.

I feel like marble has become increasingly popular lately when it comes to home decor. And honestly, I’m loving it. It’s much easier to incorporate and maintain a small piece of it, rather than, well, an entire, or half, room, so sprinkling some items here and there can elevate your home decor in the best way possible. Think beautiful trays like these and these to display items on your vanity and/or countertops, a cookbook stand that can also be used to show art, elegant coasters to protect your surfaces, boxes like this, this, and this that double as decor elements as well as storage for small items… the options are [almost] endless.

Check the selection below for marble accents to incorporate into your home decor.

Until next time.

xoxo,

Em
