Espadrilles, the most versatile shoes

Like [almost] any other woman, I like my shoes - the more the better and, of course, they should come in different colors, as I think that variety is a good thing. The brand does not matter to me much, what matters is their quality, comfort, and of course, looks - I’m somewhat picky when it comes to shoe styles.

However, since the moment espadrilles made their debut in retail, I have become their loyal fan. Frankly, there are no other shoes I wear more than espadrilles - I find them to go with everything, and, in my opinion, they are as nice-looking as they are comfortable (well, there are exceptions to the rule, like with everything else).

Unlike regular heels or pumps, espadrilles are suitable for pretty much any occasion, as they look elegant, yet not too much, and wearing them at any time of day will definitely make them “fit in” and not stand out as being out of place. That, to me, makes them the most versatile shoes out there.

Espadrilles come in many forms, sizes, and colors these days - I especially like the wedges type, but I don’t discriminate much. In fact, if you’ve been following me for a while, or if you take a look at the posts on the blog, you’ll see that I mostly wear espadrilles, specifically these ones (in natural - pictured above). The pointy toe makes them look elegant, and they’re comfortable enough for walking, I say enough because they do require a little breaking in (I’d recommend your usual size). I’m actually eyeing the gold ones, but I keep missing them in my size, it appears.

The only thing I would caution you with when it comes to espadrilles is that they don’t like the wet weather. As they’re generally made of fabric and jute (which is glued to the sole), water can undo the glue, shortening their lifespan significantly, in most cases - their only disadvantage as far as I’m concerned.

Here is a selection of espadrilles, from wedges to flats, that I’m eyeing. Which ones do you prefer?

*Please note that more colors are available for the espadrilles shown below.
