Some free fun ideas for the weekend

Some free fun for the weekend | Blooming Magnolias Blog | Lifestyle, social distancing, things to do, free things to do,

Long gone are the days when we could actually take a break from the news and had some peace of mind when it comes to certain aspects of our lives. Because of that, I think we all need some fun during these times, so, as a distraction from this crazy world, I thought of sharing some things that have kept us entertained while cooped up in our home. And yes, we’re still mostly staying at home. I hope you find something new and interesting on this list, and maybe, even be reminded of things you enjoyed at some point in time. So let’s jump in.

  • Explore.org has an array of live cams displaying from animals in Africa, to coral reefs, to aurora borealis, and more. While it is interactive enough for adults, it can be a perfectly enjoyable activity for children, as well as the entire family.

  • As Halloween approaches, we’re invaded by mystery and/or horror stories, and I found this one to fit both of those statements. If only we could solve these mysteries…

  • If you’re into binge-watching a season-appropriate (aka creepy) TV show, I recommend The Fall, in case you haven’t seen it yet. It’s good.

  • If you’re in need of binge-watching a funny TV show, go for The Mindy Project, as it will take your mind off things, or, at least, that’s what it did for us. New Girl would also do the trick.

  • It’s not a new movie, but we recently watched The Illusionist and enjoyed it greatly. Love, mystery, some drama, what’s not to be enjoyed?

  • Travel is out of the question for many of us, but dreaming and planning are not. If you’re in need of an escape (even if only virtual right now), check these best beaches in the world.

  • OK, we’re all obsessed with beauty, and at some point, probably dreamt of looking like Cleopatra, or, at least, were inspired by some of her beauty “secrets”. This article gives an insight into how ancient Egyptian cosmetics influenced our beauty rituals.

Do you have any interesting articles or shows to share? Please leave them in the comments below.

Until next time.
