Mother of pearl home accents and decor

Mother of pearl home accents and decor | Blooming Magnolias Blog | Lifestyle | Home decor, beachy home decor

Like many others, I have an interest in home decorating but it wasn’t until recently that I realized I love several styles, some being quite on the opposite side of the spectrum.

I love light, white and airy spaces (as long as it’s not all modern), I adore the Mediterranean/Spanish home decor and design, I love traditional home decor (think Ralph Lauren/British), the Grandmillenial style, and even some of the minimalistic trends. As you can see, there’s quite a mix here, and some just don’t go with the others.

I haven’t decorated much in the last few years, even though I’ve purchased plenty of items for that purpose. I used to go all out with every place we lived in but that changed once we moved to Florida. For reasons outside of our control, and in spite of us trying, our current place never felt like a “home”, but rather, a temporary space, if you will… Ultimately, I ended up sprinkling throughout items we love and bring us joy and left it at that.

I have been, however, saving pictures on Pinterest, and Instagram as inspiration for when we do find our home and I have been shopping for pieces that I’m thinking would go together. Mostly small items and accents that will eventually create the space I have in my mind.

Coming from my love for the ocean and the beach, I’ve always incorporated shells and corals throughout our home. From there, I went on to add things made of mother or pearl. Boxes, trays, and trinket dishes started to make appearances in every room, with lamps, accent tables, and stools being added to my wishlist for later.

What is Mother of Pearl?

Mother of pearl is also called nacre, and its common name comes from the fact that layers and layers of it create the natural pearls we all know (and that I’m a big fan of). With its iridescent tones, I find it fascinating and love to wear it as jewelry and include it in home styling via various objects — there are so many options to choose from!

Since I couldn't resist, I also added a few gorgeous capiz pieces that would add that relaxed, yet elegant element to any interior. I hope you like my picks.
