Valentine's Day at home

weekend ideas at home

Dress here; Espadrille wedges - old, similar here, here, and here.

Valentine’s Day is this Sunday, and while I still stand by what I said in my previous post to give yourself a break, you can make this day special with little effort, while taking it easy, and that could be as simple as doing the things you enjoy, making breakfast for your SO (or yourself!), or cooking together.

Here, the weather forecast shows a rainy weekend so far, so we will be cozying up at home, rather than going out, which, for us, these days looks like a socially-distanced walk in the park or on the beach.

As far as celebrating Valentine’s Day, we’re big on love letters/notes around here, and I will be writing one for my hubby this time as well. We made showing our love and appreciation for one another part of our every day, so we don’t usually do anything too special on Valentine’s, but reading those letters or notes days and even years later sure does stir some positive emotions. It’s a very nice way of revisiting our relationship and how far we’ve come, and I can’t recommend it enough for any couple. Heck, I recommend doing this even if you are single - write a love letter to yourself- it will be a good reminder for the days when you’re not that happy about yourself, and also bring fuzzy feelings when you read it years later.

Another idea we’re entertaining… when going out is not an option, for whatever the reasons, I enjoy watching live cams on Explore.org, my favorite being the Northern Lights for the night, and the Oceans for any time, but there are many live cams showing places, animals, etc. To me, this is a nice way of traveling when we can’t go places and a way of learning new things. This is even more fun if you can project the video on a big surface, like a wall, and is also a great way to entertain kids.

As home is still the place we spend the most time at, and because reality still feels pretty heavy, we’ve been looking to watch some comedy, and after some really bad ones - movies and shows included - that turned out to be more dramatic than funny, we started to watch The Goldbergs via Hulu (it’s included in our phone plan), and have really enjoyed it. If you’re looking for something funny to watch, I fully recommend it.

That’s all I have for you these days as I’m pretty dried out on ideas, and life has been pretty boring here lately.

I have to say that I received my Valentine’s present to myself - this dress, also shared in my previous post - and I can’t be more in love with it. I showed a sneak-peek on my Instagram stories, so follow me on there so you don’t miss future behind-the-scenes. There’s only one size left of the dress so if you want it, grab it before it’s gone. I found it to be true to size (size up if in between sizes), super-flowy, and yes, it’s a bit see-through like most linen clothes are. I can’t wait to wash it and wear it.

Happy Valentine’s, Galentine’s, or whatever else you’re celebrating!

xoxo,

Em
