Linen: the perfect fabric for the summer heat

There are many things I found surprising about Florida, including how much the temperatures can differ from one day to another (especially in winter), but one thing I knew before coming here was how humid it is, compared to the dry climate we’ve lived in prior.

I have always had a preference for natural fabrics (like cotton), but in recent years I have fallen in love with linen, especially because of how comfortable I find this fabric to be. It might not be for everyone, as I have to admit some items are just not very pretty. I mostly find linen pieces to be simply irresistible in my eyes.

Prior to leaving for our Europe trip last spring, I have done some shopping in preparation for the hot summer months ahead, and focused on acquiring a few cotton and linen clothes, to ensure some level of comfort for those days. Now those pieces are my most treasured and worn, and I look forward to adding more as I find them. One of those pieces was this linen midi dress. It’s comfortable, flattering, and most importantly, breathable.

I didn’t intend to have a photo-shoot that day, hence the wrinkly dress as I unpacked it, and put on for our pre-COVID-19 daily (and also makeup-free) morning walks. The view behind me though called for it to be captured, and I just got in the pictures, hehe.

I have written about linen properties in this post, and I recommend it just as much now, years later. When you come across a well-made linen item, buy it, as it will serve you for years.

I’m sharing below some I’d like to add to my wardrobe; which one do you like the most?

Outfit details: dress, old, sold out; shoes, old, similar here, sunglasses, similar here and here.
