April had it all…

WHAT I/WE DID

April brought on-and-off hot weather, which limited some of our activities, but we managed to make it a fairly good month. I did, however, need a break, so I took one (with the blog).

We finally escaped the city for a change of scenery and a visit to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, a delightful place for a plant lover like me. We found it quite different from our first visit there (much improved, but also, with places closed for access due to hurricane damage from last October).

We had a good time there, even if the weather was hot. We were intrigued by The Green Orchid Cafe, set to become the world’s first net-positive energy restaurant, but missed it by the time we were done with the gardens tour. If you’re in the area and love plants, I definitely recommend visiting this place.

Also in April, I fell out of love with exercising, so towards the end of the month, I forced myself to get back to that. I’m still on the love-hate train, but I do like the changes I see in my body, and I’m trying to keep at it…

Oh, and we might have made a few trips to Ikea… just for their frozen yogurt, haha! Why does it taste like childhood? PSA: their veggie dog is delicious!

APRIL BLOG POSTS ROUNDUP

I didn’t intend to take off two full weeks from posting on the blog, but it just happened, and while I felt guilty, I listened to my needs. With that said, here’s what I did publish in April:

If you can't go to Italy, bring Italy where you are… This dress I have was brought back in stock in a maxi version (plus pockets), so I had to re-share!

5 things that bring me joy this week: Week 1 and Week 2 were all I managed to share before my unintended break.

A blue and white floral dress with pockets. This gorgeous (and very affordable) dress deserved a permanent place on the blog!

Blue and white chinoiserie print dress. Yet another blue and white chinoiserie print dress had to be added to my closet (and again, it’s very affordable at only $35).

March at a glance... And of course, our monthly recap.

What I bought

I had the worst of luck with my purchases this past month.

I purchased this dress (in a gorgeous blue color I eyed for several months), only for the order to be canceled because the item was out of stock. I took it as a sign that it wasn’t meant to be and gave up on it.

Then, I purchased this bag and this bag, only for them to be marked as delivered to who knows where, because they weren’t delivered to me (initially). Luckily, they were allegedly scanned as delivered by mistake and made their way to me eventually.

MY MOST WORN ITEM(s) IN APRIL

Looking back, I really did wear a lot of blue and white in April.

This blue and white print dress. It fits true to size and is lovely (plus, it has pockets and is only $35!)

These kitten heel mules. With all the blue and white I wore this past month, they were my go-to shoes.

Of course, these oversized sunglasses.

This old Relic bag I’ve had for several years. To be perfectly honest, I was too lazy to switch it, and I ended up grabbing it just about every time we went out. If you’re interested, I found pre-owned here, here, and here.

Plus, other old pieces from my closet.

WHAT I READ

I know, I know, I’m embarrassed to share this yet again, but I am almost finished with The Count of Monte Cristo. My mind has not been able to shut down enough to focus on reading on some days, but I am making big progress. I still stand by this being one of the best books ever written!

What we watched

We finished Gilmore Girls, including the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and wow, what a disappointment that was! The revival should not have happened, as I truly think it ruined the entire series!

Severance. We rewatched season one (after all, it’s been three years) and finished season two. I have to say, we were somewhat disappointed in the latest season and think the previous one was better.

SONG OF THE MONTH

This played in my head the entire month…

WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE ON THE INTERNET

Some new arrivals that immediately went to my wishlist, like this poplin dress (specifically in princess blue), this shirt dress in deep sea teal (I already have it in Santa Monica Blue), and this poplin crossback midi (I haven’t decided on a color yet).

I am entirely smitten with these Sarah Flint berry sandals (and these!). Talk about a work of art!

These crystal hoops look expensive, but are affordable! And these crystal baguette huggie hoops are perfect for spring and summer (and yes, still affordable)!

I love, love this pleated floral shirt dress (and I want it!). And this nautical print shirt dress, of course!

This straw bag is great for spring and summer!

I still love this raffia-effect bucket bag and this contrasting canvas bucket bag!

This is quite a unique braided leather bag, and I love the color!

This is a lovely linen mini dress, if you’re into short styles!

Goodbye April… May, take it easy and celebrate
me!
