White after Labor Day

Yes, here I am shamelessly wearing white after Labor Day.

It's bewildering to me that in this day and age, people are still following the "no-white after Labor Day" rule. I read somewhere that this so-called fashion rule comes from the 1900s when women were wearing dresses so long that they touched the ground. Labor Day marked the beginning of the rainy season, therefore, wearing white was a no-no, since they would get extremely dirty in the muddy streets. During those times, it made perfect sense to switch to darker colors and forget about white until after the warm season would come back.

I follow rules that make sense and I would like to understand, why, out of all the ones in this country, this is one that some people follow as if it was a religion. I am not trying to shame anyone for doing so, I only want to understand one's position, so I stop feeling like I'm committing a fashion-crime every time I decide to wear this color this time of the year.

To me, there really is something about wearing white ANY time of the year, that makes me feel more sophisticated, light and lady-like; after all, I do have to be more careful about keeping white - white.

Speaking of wearing white, since it's difficult to find white clothes that don't show more than I intend to, I always make sure I wear a nude bra (usually strapless), half-slip or thigh shapers.

We're still experiencing warm weather here in #SoCal and I prefer wearing white to help me keep cool. For another very warm weekend of exploring our city, I wanted to wear this beautiful white floral dress that I've had for years, but still love. I found it at Old Navy (how cute is this or this) years ago. This dress was most definitely one of those purchases that I made to make myself feel better after one unpleasant event.

Since it's old, I've linked some dresses that I found and have fallen in love with, like this, this, this and this one. To complete the outfit find similar sandals here, similar floppy hat here, and the exact sunglasses here.

For our exploring, we headed to Balboa Park, which #funfact, is bigger than New York Central Park. Interestingly enough, there were still parts of Balboa Park that we haven't explored before. I was happy to find this "forest" of palm and yucca trees. After we strolled for a bit, we walked to the opposite side of the park where the Rose Garden is, to smell the roses - literally.
