My travel bucket list

Porcelain Museum at Boboli Gardens, Florence, Italy

As the world is opening up more and more, I’ve been low-key dreaming of a list of places to travel to sooner rather than later.

As we spent several months in Europe in 2019, I’d very much like to do something like that again, and ideally, stay in some of these places in the summer. I deeply dislike summers in Florida, and dream of spending them someplace else, preferably a bit cooler. As I love spending time outdoors, that’s not very possible here once the temperatures and humidity levels rise.

Glasgow Cathedral, the oldest in mainland Scotland, and the oldest building in Glasgow, dating from the 13th century.

Note that these are not places I have done much research on just yet. It’s rather a list of places I want to visit either due to their landscape and/or history, as well as overall aesthetics and even curiosities. Let’s jump into it.

  • Australia. I’ll say that Australia entices and scares me at the same time. Hearing about all the crazy insects, snakes, and other creatures there is terrifying, but its beauty makes me want to jump on a plane headed there asap.

  • New Zeeland. I have fallen for the landscape and nature from New Zeeland ever since seeing the first photo of it. And did you know that there are no snakes there? Strolling through its fields covered in lupins sure sounds like a dream!

  • Spain, especially Andalusia and Mallorca. The food, the historic places, the stone buildings, the architecture, the scenery — it seems to have everything I look for when traveling. For those reasons, Spain, and particularly, Andalusia and Mallorca are priorities on my travel list.

  • Portugal, especially Madeira and The Azores. I want to visit these places just for their landscape alone, though they sure have more to offer.

  • South of France. The landscape, the food, the farmers’ markets... I’d love spending some time there enjoying it all.

  • Italy, particularly, Lake Como, Venice, Sicily, Sardinia, and all of Tuscany. Italy is a country I’ll never have enough exploring — it’s my favorite.

  • Switzerland. There is a lot to explore there, from small villages to big cities — the views are breathtaking!

  • Croatia. Dubrovnik looks stunning and is an increasingly popular destination, but, honestly, its entire Adriatic coast looks dreamy.

  • The UK, particularly, Cotswold, Dover, all of Scotland. These places are full of charm and history and are certainly not lacking in scenery either. And after visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland, I can’t wait to discover more of it.

  • Ireland. The greenery, the castles, the coast… enough said!

  • Iceland. The waterfalls, the thermal pools, the landscape… I think it’s safe to say that Iceland is a pretty unique country definitely worth visiting.

  • Some parts of Africa. At the top of my head, I’d love to see African penguins in their true habitat, the Sahara Desert, and go on a safari.

  • Mexico and South America, particularly, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Argentina. I will address the elephant in the room, and say that we may not make it to these countries any time soon, if ever, due to safety concerns, that being our top priority when traveling. However, visiting them has been a life-long dream of mine — there is just so much beauty to see there!

Have you visited any of these places? Where do you want to travel to?
